Programme
Worried that you won’t be speaking English all the time because you’re in Italy? Trust us! There will be very few occasions when you hear Italian spoken and of course, you’ll be practising your English all the time. As well as your lessons with an experienced teacher, you’ll start every day reading the daily news over breakfast. You’ll also be watching TV and films together, chatting over tea or coffee in the garden during the afternoon or a glass of wine before dinner, visiting some of the beautiful small hill towns of Umbria and of course tasting some of its magnificent local cuisine.
Here is an example programme for the Super Intensive course.
Depending on the local ‘sagre’ (food festivals) and other events going on, we may adapt the programme to offer different activities.
We provide the choice between lessons only or a mix of lessons and activities for the Intensive and Family Fun courses. We will send you our proposal when you sign up.
Arrival, Day one:
Arrival at 18.00 (approx.). Settle in to your accommodation and then join us for an aperitivo and welcome dinner. Your first taste of Umbria and Tuscany!
Day Two:
Breakfast together, then lessons in the morning (approx. 3 hours) followed by lunch together at home. In the afternoon you will have some free time to relax and review what you were studying in the morning before starting 2 more hours of lessons. Dinner will be at the Trattoria del Pescatore near the lake in Passignano sul Trasimeno, where Serena and Carlo will explain some of the local specialities their family has been cooking at the Trattoria for several generations.
Day Three:

Getting here
From the UK you can fly to Perugia. Otherwise the nearest airport is Florence. We recommend that you hire a car from the airport you arrive at. You can also fly-drive from Pisa, Rome, Ancona, Bologna… In this way, you can combine your stay at Oakfield Umbria with the opportunity to explore Umbria fully or even visit another part of Italy.
If you arrive at Perugia airport, Passignano sul Trasimeno train station or Terontola-Cortona train station, we can come and pick you up on Sunday afternoon and take you back on Friday afternoon.

Who we are
Ciao! We’re Emma and Ezio! We met in Bergamo, where Ezio comes from and Emma had been working as a Business English Trainer and Director of Studies since 1993. In 2006 we moved to Barcelona and Oakfield was born in 2012. Every summer and any other holidays, we spend time at our Italian home: Campo delle Querce (Oakfield), Umbria. This was a ruin which Emma’s family bought in 1999 and then completely restored. Since 2015, we have been welcoming people here on our language holidays to learn Italian and to enjoy the peace and quiet of the green heart of Italy. Emma is the main teacher for all the courses, while Ezio will tell you more about Italian culture and traditions. He also prepares the delicious meals we’ll have together and joins in all mealtime conversations.
We share a love of good food and good wine and look forward to sharing this Italian experience with you.
